Letsile Tebogo Crowned World Athlete of the Year
Botswana's pride, Letsile Tebogo, received the title of World Athlete of the Year (Male) at the World Athletics Awards 2024. The event occurred in Monaco on Sunday, December 1st, 2024.
Tebogo gained this remarkable honor thanks to fan votes. Alongside him, Sifan Hassan from The Netherlands earned the top honor for females. Six athletes were celebrated that evening across three categories꞉ Track, Field and Out of Stadium. Eventually, the overall winners were announced.
Tebogo also became the Men's Track Athlete of the Year. Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone won the women's track honor. Other key winners were Sifan Hassan (Women's Out of Stadium), Tamirat Tola (Men's Out of Stadium), Mondo Duplantis (Men's Field) and Yaroslava Mahuchikh (Women's Field).
The event also recognized two Rising Stars of the year. Sembo Almayew and Mattia Furlani received these honors.
